I had a mentoring session this weekend with two lovely photographers, and it was so much fun. They are experienced photographers who have their own style and niche, but they wanted to shadow me to reset their creativity, and draw inspiration from my family sessions. It’s refreshing to meet others who share a common interest, and love what they do for a living. The mentoring sessions I offer are best suited for photographers who are comfortable with their camera, but want to see how I interact with, direct, and pose my clients. We go over how to find good natural light, ways to work with harsh light, camera settings, and how I go through the motions of a photo session. It’s a whole process, and it doesn’t always go as planned, but the curveballs are what help us grow and adjust.
Here are some of my favorite shots from the evening.
